Msc Strength and conditioning

The MSc Strength and Conditioning at Hartpury University is a professionally endorsed postgraduate programme designed to develop highly skilled, evidence-based Strength and Conditioning practitioners. Endorsed by the Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity (CIMSPA), the programme prepares graduates to meet modern industry standards while developing advanced coaching, performance analysis and athlete development expertise.



Students will develop critical skills in strength training, athletic conditioning, performance testing, athlete monitoring and coaching science through a combination of lectures, workshops, practical sessions and industry-based learning experiences. The programme is designed in collaboration with industry partners to ensure graduates possess the knowledge, competencies and practical abilities required within elite sport, education, performance development and applied sport science environments.



Throughout the course, students learn to design, implement and evaluate strength and conditioning programmes while developing advanced analytical and coaching skills. The curriculum bridges scientific theory with practical application, enabling graduates to support athletic performance across a variety of sporting contexts.



Successful graduates achieve recognition as a Graduate Strength and Conditioning Coach through CIMSPA, significantly enhancing employability within the global sports performance industry.

The programme provides the advanced scientific knowledge, practical coaching expertise and professional competencies required for careers in elite sport, professional clubs, schools, universities, academies, private performance centres and sports science consultancy.


Program Requirements
  • Academic Requirement:
    • 2:2 Honours Degree in a related subject.

    • Applicants with non-related qualifications but sufficient professional or industry experience may be considered individually.

  • ELP Requirement:
    • IELTS Academic Overall 6.5

    • Equivalent PTE, TOEFL or approved English language qualification accepted.

  • Special Requirement: Students are encouraged to undertake applied Strength & Conditioning practice during studies. CIMSPA Student Membership included during studies. Graduates achieve Graduate Strength and Conditioning Coach status. Opportunity to complete British Weightlifting Coaching Qualification (self-funded). Optional 200-hour industry placement available. Industry experience in Strength & Conditioning environments recommended
