MSc Sports Therapy (Conversion)

The MSc Sports Therapy (Conversion) at Hartpury University is a professionally focused postgraduate programme designed to convert graduates from Sport and Exercise Science and related disciplines into industry-ready Sports Therapists. The programme combines advanced clinical knowledge, practical rehabilitation skills and extensive professional placements to prepare graduates for successful careers in sports therapy, rehabilitation and sports medicine environments.



Students benefit from practical learning in modern sports therapy clinics, rehabilitation facilities and sports performance environments while developing advanced assessment, treatment and rehabilitation competencies. Throughout the programme, students work with athletes, active individuals and clinical populations under professional supervision, gaining valuable real-world experience.



The course includes a minimum of 250 hours of supervised placement experience, including opportunities within Hartpury's Sports Therapy Clinic, Sports Academy programmes and external healthcare and sports organisations. Students also receive professional development through emergency first aid certification and membership support from The Society of Sports Therapists (SST).



Upon successful completion, graduates become eligible to apply for professional membership and insurance through The Society of Sports Therapists, enabling them to practise as qualified Sports Therapists.

The programme develops the advanced clinical reasoning, rehabilitation, injury management and professional practice skills required for careers within professional sport, healthcare, rehabilitation clinics, fitness industries and private sports therapy practice.


Program Requirements
  • Academic Requirement:
    • 2:1 Honours Degree in Sport and Exercise Science or a related discipline.

    • Applicants with a 2:2 Honours Degree plus relevant professional or industry experience may be considered individually.

    • Applicants from non-related degrees with significant Sport and Exercise Science industry experience may be considered individually.

  • ELP Requirement:
    • IELTS Academic Overall 7.0

    • Minimum 6.5 in Writing

    • Minimum 6.5 in Speaking

    • Equivalent PTE, TOEFL or approved English language qualification accepted.

  • Special Requirement: Personal Statement must demonstrate: Understanding of Sports Therapy profession. Knowledge of The Society of Sports Therapists (SST). Academic and/or practical experience in Sport and Exercise Sciences. Relevant personal and professional qualities. Motivation to study Sports Therapy. Applicants must successfully complete Fitness to Practise assessment. Enhanced DBS Clearance required. Minimum 250 hours supervised placement required. Minimum 80% attendance mandatory. Emergency First Aid Certification included. Eligible for SST Membership and Insurance upon graduation. Student membership of The Society of Sports Therapists provided by Hartpury University.
