The Opticianry (OPTC) program at Seneca Polytechnic is a two-year Ontario College Diploma that prepares students for careers in the optical and vision care industry. Students develop specialized knowledge in optics, eye refraction, contact lenses, eyewear dispensing, and subnormal vision devices through a combination of classroom instruction, laboratory training, and work-integrated learning. The fast-track curriculum integrates theory, hands-on practice, and mandatory work terms to build professional competencies and industry experience. Graduates are prepared to write the National Alliance of Canadian Optician Regulators (NACOR) entry-to-practice examinations and pursue registration as Opticians in Canada.
