The Floral Design certificate program at Seneca Polytechnic combines creativity, artistry and practical business knowledge to prepare students for careers in the floral industry. Students learn how to create professional floral arrangements while developing an understanding of colour, texture, design principles and customer preferences.
Through extensive hands-on learning in the floral design laboratory, students gain practical experience in floral arrangement creation, event design, retail floral operations and artistic presentation. The curriculum blends design theory with real-world application to help students develop both technical and creative expertise.
The program includes approximately 200 hours of industry field placement, allowing students to gain valuable professional experience while building industry connections. Graduates are prepared for careers in retail floral businesses, event design companies, garden centres and floral consulting.
