The Sport Science Diploma at Douglas College provides students with a comprehensive understanding of human movement, exercise science, health, fitness, biomechanics, nutrition, sport psychology, and athletic performance. The program combines scientific knowledge with practical application, allowing students to specialize in Kinesiology, Health and Recreation, or an Interdisciplinary pathway. Students can further enhance their experience through optional Co-operative Education opportunities, gaining valuable industry experience while studying. Graduates are prepared for careers in coaching, fitness, recreation management, health promotion, exercise science, and sports performance, as well as direct transfer into degree programs in physical education, kinesiology, and related disciplines.
- Academic Requirement: English 12 with minimum grade C, Foundations of Math 11 or Pre-Calculus 11 with minimum grade C, plus Grade 11/12 academic requirements. Post-secondary applicants require minimum GPA 2.33.
- ELP Requirement: Douglas College English Language Proficiency Requirement. Typically IELTS 6.5 overall with no band below 6.0 or equivalent.
- Special Requirement: Two professional reference forms from coaches, PE teachers, employers, or community leaders. Interview may be required. CAD $350 non-refundable tuition deposit required after admission.
