Music Technology

The Music Technology Diploma at Douglas College provides hands-on training in audio engineering, music production, recording technology, sound design, sequencing, synthesis, live sound, mixing, mastering, and interactive media. Students learn using professional recording studios, computer labs, and industry-standard audio equipment while gaining practical experience in music production and live performance environments. The program develops both technical and creative skills required for careers in audio engineering, music production, sound recording, post-production, film audio, game audio, and live sound operations. Graduates are prepared to enter the rapidly growing audio and entertainment industry or pursue advanced studies in music technology and audio production.

Program Requirements
  • Academic Requirement: General College Admission Requirements. Audition, Music Literacy Assessment, and Technology Competency Assessment required. Applicants must demonstrate competency in performance or music production.
  • ELP Requirement: Douglas College English Language Proficiency Requirement. Typically IELTS 6.5 overall with no band below 6.0 or equivalent.
  • Special Requirement: Audition, Music Literacy Test, and Technology Competency requirement must be satisfied. A non-refundable CAD $350 tuition deposit is required after admission.
