Legal Studies

The Legal Studies Diploma at Douglas College provides students with a strong foundation in Canadian law, legal processes, criminal justice, public law, private law, constitutional law, and legal research. Students develop critical thinking, legal reasoning, research, writing, and communication skills while studying topics such as criminal law, evidence, legal remedies, immigration law, and human rights law. The program offers an optional Co-operative Education pathway that allows students to gain paid work experience while completing their studies. Graduates can pursue careers in legal and justice-related fields or continue their education through degree transfer opportunities in criminology, law-related studies, and other university programs.

Program Requirements
  • Academic Requirement: General College Admission Requirements. Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • ELP Requirement: IELTS 6.5 overall with no band below 6.0 or equivalent Douglas College accepted test scores.
  • Special Requirement: All courses completed in the program must be University Transferable. Students intending to transfer should consult the BC Transfer Guide. Optional Co-operative Education Program available.
