Geological Resources

The Geological Resources Diploma at Douglas College prepares students for careers in mining, mineral exploration, environmental geology, and geoscience-related industries. This hands-on program combines classroom learning with field-based training in earth sciences, mineralogy, petrology, geology, mapping, and resource exploration. Students gain practical experience through field methods courses, laboratory work, and site visits to mines and exploration operations. The program also offers an optional Co-operative Education pathway, allowing students to gain paid industry experience before graduation. Graduates are equipped with the technical knowledge and field skills required for employment as geological technicians or for transfer into geology, geophysics, geochemistry, geography, environmental science, and engineering degree programs.
