The Bachelor of Science in Psychiatric Nursing (BSPN) at Douglas College prepares students to become Registered Psychiatric Nurses (RPNs) specializing in mental health, addictions, and psychiatric care. The program combines classroom learning with extensive clinical practicums and a full-time preceptorship experience in healthcare settings. Students develop skills in therapeutic relationships, psychiatric assessment, trauma-informed care, mental health treatment, pharmacology, and community-based care. Graduates are eligible to write the Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Canada Examination (RPNCE) and pursue registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
