Accounting

The Accounting Diploma at Douglas College provides students with practical accounting, finance, and business management skills required for today's workplace. Students gain hands-on experience using industry-standard software such as QuickBooks, Sage 50, Excel, and data analytics tools while studying financial accounting, managerial accounting, corporate finance, business law, and economics. The program offers optional co-op and internship opportunities and provides a pathway toward the Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting and CPA professional designation requirements.

Program Requirements
  • Academic Requirement: Grade 12 or equivalent. Foundations of Math 11 with minimum Grade C recommended. Applicants must meet Douglas College General Admission Requirements.
  • ELP Requirement: IELTS 6.5 Overall with no band below 6.0
  • Special Requirement: Foundations of Math 11 is strongly recommended as several accounting and business courses require mathematics prerequisites.

• Meet Douglas College General Admission Requirements.

• Successfully complete Grade 12 or an equivalent secondary school qualification.

• Foundations of Math 11 with a minimum grade of C is strongly recommended prior to registration.

• Submit official academic transcripts from all previously attended institutions.

• Provide proof of English language proficiency as required by Douglas College.

• Complete and submit the college application along with applicable fees.

• Successfully complete a minimum of 60 program credits.

• Achieve and maintain a minimum program GPA of 2.00 for graduation.

• Complete at least 50% (30 credits) of the program requirements at Douglas College.

• Successfully complete all required accounting, finance, business, economics, and supporting courses outlined in the curriculum.

• Develop practical skills using industry-standard software including QuickBooks, Sage 50 Accounting, Microsoft Excel, and business analytics tools.

• Students may participate in optional Co-operative Education and Business Internship opportunities to gain workplace experience.

• Program requirements must be completed within seven (7) years of initial enrolment.

• Graduates may pursue further studies through the Bachelor of Business Administration (Accounting) pathway and work toward Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation requirements.
