The Academic Foundations for Potential Psychiatric Nursing Applicants Certificate at Douglas College is a one-year pathway program designed for students who plan to pursue the Bachelor of Science in Psychiatric Nursing (BSPN). Students complete 30 transferable credits in anatomy, physiology, microbiology, psychology, statistics, and academic writing while building the academic foundation required for future psychiatric nursing studies. Graduates receive priority access to required courses and may apply to the BSPN program upon successful completion of all admission requirements.
- Academic Requirement: English 12 / English Studies 12 / English First Peoples 12 with minimum Grade B. Biology 11/12, Life Sciences 11 or Anatomy and Physiology 12 with minimum Grade B. Foundations of Math 11/12 with minimum Grade B. Students must successfully complete 30 university transferable credits with a minimum grade of C+ in each required course to be eligible for application to the Bachelor of Science in Psychiatric Nursing (BSPN) program.
- ELP Requirement: IELTS 6.5 Overall with minimum 6.0 in each band OR equivalent. PTE 56, Duolingo 110, TOEFL iBT 83.
- Special Requirement: This pathway program is designed for students intending to pursue the Bachelor of Science in Psychiatric Nursing (BSPN). Completion of this certificate does not guarantee admission to the BSPN program. Admission is competitive and based on academic performance and seat availability.
