Academic Foundations For Potential Nursing Applicants

The Academic Foundations for Potential Nursing Applicants Certificate at Douglas College is a one-year pathway program designed for students who wish to pursue the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). Students complete 30 transferable credits in anatomy, physiology, microbiology, statistics, academic writing, and liberal arts while meeting the academic requirements for entry into the BSN program. Graduates receive priority consideration for admission to the BSN program and gain a strong foundation for future nursing studies.

Program Requirements
  • Academic Requirement: English 12 / English Studies 12 / English First Peoples 12 with minimum Grade B. Biology 11/12, Life Sciences 11 or Anatomy & Physiology 12 with minimum Grade B. Foundations of Math 11/12 with minimum Grade B. Students must complete 30 university transferable credits and meet BSN admission requirements for priority consideration.
  • ELP Requirement: IELTS 6.5 overall with minimum 6.0 in each band OR equivalent. PTE 56, Duolingo 110, TOEFL iBT 83.
  • Special Requirement: Pathway program leading to Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). Completion of this certificate does not guarantee admission to the BSN program. Official transcripts from all post-secondary institutions may be required.
