International Foundation Programme

How Will You Learn?

Our teaching approach is designed to help international students succeed academically by building strong English language skills and subject knowledge required for university-level study.

Language Classes: Interactive & Practical Learning

In the International Foundation Programme (IFP), language learning goes beyond traditional classroom teaching. You will learn through a blend of face-to-face classes and guided self-study, allowing you to develop confidence and independence in using English.

The primary aim of language classes is not only to improve grammar, vocabulary, reading, writing, listening, and speaking, but also to strengthen the academic skills needed for university studies. As a result, much of the class time is activity-based and highly interactive.

What You’ll Do in Language Classes:

  • Read and analyse academic texts

  • Listen to recorded conversations and lectures

  • Write structured paragraphs and assignments

  • Prepare for group discussions and presentations

Many activities contribute to a larger final task, such as researching multiple texts to complete a written assignment or participating in an informed group discussion.

Collaboration is a key part of learning. You will regularly work in pairs or small groups, helping you develop essential communication and teamwork skills required in a university environment.

Subject Classes: Learn Like a University Student

Subject modules are taught using a variety of teaching methods to reflect how learning takes place in a full undergraduate degree. Teaching is not limited to traditional lectures—you will actively participate in your learning.

Teaching Methods Include:

  • Lectures – Interactive sessions with discussions and short group tasks

  • Seminars – Presenting and debating prepared material such as text analysis or problem-solving

  • Tutorials – Small-group or one-to-one support, especially for assignment planning and writing

  • Practicals – Hands-on learning such as laboratory work, field trips, or creative projects like video production

The focus is on developing subject-specific knowledge, theories, and analytical skills in areas such as business processes, media studies, and other academic disciplines.

The IFP core modules are taught by experienced tutors who specialise in English for Academic Purposes (EAP). Subject modules may also be delivered by tutors from relevant university departments, ensuring academic authenticity and quality.
