Work-Integrated Learning Experience

As part of the program, all students must complete a 16-week work-integrated learning placement. This practical experience can take the form of a job, internship, or volunteer role directly related to your area of study.

Students receive dedicated guidance and support throughout the process, but are ultimately responsible for securing their own placement. Our Program Manager and the ISANS support team will assist you at every stage — from preparing applications to connecting with employers — ensuring a meaningful, career-focused learning experience.

Admission Process

  1. Submit application online: Upload personal documents and pay admission fee ($200.00)
  2. Admission Committee Reviews Documents: Review: Transcript, English Proficiency, References and Statement of Purpose.
  3. Admission Committee Interview: 5 questions about professional experience
  4. Issue Letter of Offer - LOO: Confirm initial tuition deposit – Due 21 days from LOO
  5. Issue Letter of Acceptance (LOA) and Provincial Attestation Letter (PAL)
  6. Confirm visa approval (30 days before the start date)

Program Requirements
  • Academic Requirement: Completion of an undergraduate degree in any discipline A minimum Overall average of 70% of (around a B- or 2.7 GPA) as calculated in your undergraduate degree OR most recent degree. Receive two (2) positive academic or professional references Demonstrate three years of full-time work experience (strongly recommended)
  • ELP Requirement: IELTS: 6.5 (6.0) TOEFL: 90 (20) PTE: 61 (50) DUOLINGO: 120
Refund Policy

Dalhousie University has specific refund policies for international students, particularly those covered by the International Tuition Guarantee. International students who fully withdraw before the add/drop deadline are generally eligible for refunds, with the effective date being the date the Registrar's Office receives the request. Withdrawals for compassionate reasons are reviewed on a case-by-case basis, and refunds may be affected by changes in a student's major or degree

Key Points for International Students:

  • Full Withdrawal:

    To be eligible for a refund under the International Tuition Guarantee, students must fully withdraw from all courses on or before the add/drop deadline

  • Withdrawal Notification:

    Students must officially withdraw by submitting written notification to the Registrar's Office. Non-attendance does not constitute withdrawal, and fees will be payable if courses are not officially dropped. 

  • Compassionate Withdrawals:

    If a student is withdrawing for compassionate reasons, their case will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. 

  • Refund Process:

    Refunds are processed through Student Accounts, and the refund schedule varies depending on the timing of the withdrawal.
