The Information Technology Support (DVS 5885) program prepares students for careers as Information Technology Support Technicians. Students develop the technical knowledge and practical skills required to install, configure, maintain and troubleshoot computer systems, networks, software applications and mobile devices.
The program focuses on providing technical support to users, diagnosing hardware and software issues, maintaining computer equipment, configuring networks and ensuring the efficient operation of information technology systems. Students also learn customer service techniques, technical documentation practices and effective communication skills required in modern IT environments.
Graduates are prepared for entry-level positions in technical support, help desk services, IT operations and network support across a wide range of industries including information technology companies, government organizations, educational institutions and private businesses.
- Academic Requirement: • Secondary School Diploma (Grade 12) or equivalent. OR • Applicants aged 16 years or older with Secondary IV equivalent studies including language, mathematics and second language requirements. OR • Applicants aged 18 years or older who meet General Development Test (GDT) requirements and program prerequisites. • Academic transcripts and graduation documents required. • Basic computer and technology knowledge recommended.
- ELP Requirement: • IELTS Academic: 5.5 Overall OR • PTE Academic: 50+ OR • Duolingo English Test: 85+ OR • Equivalent English proficiency accepted by institution.
- Special Requirement: • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. • Interest in computer hardware, software, networking and technical support. • Ability to communicate effectively with users and provide customer service. • Willingness to learn emerging technologies and troubleshoot technical issues. • Basic understanding of computer systems is recommended.
